SoundRing

My friend Vlada is organizing an event in Santa Cruz, CA this summer called Regular Lines, which “is a residency and exhibition program that gives an opportunity for Slovak artists to work in situ, exhibit their artwork and collaborate with the Santa Cruz art community during their residency in Boulder Creek, CA. ”

SoundRing is a musical workshop that allows children make and conduct music using a specially made electronic musical instrument called a Zvukodrom.

A Zvukodrom (zvu-ko-DROM) is a special instrument that consists of handmade molded objects of geometrical shapes designed by Martin Piacek. These touch-responsive objects are connected to a computer, which gives users the ability to create sounds and music through software specially designed for the workshop.

Check out the promo video for the workshop, and if you’re in the area, please stop by! More venues are being added, including the Santa Cruz Public Library and the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose.
